Factorization Using a UT Chart

I've taught factorization before and used every method under the sun. This year I used the UT chart method with great success! My coworkers call it a TU chart, but I switched it to UT. The reason is, we're in Texas and the UT Longhorns are a big deal around here! I made a fancy football chart for the board and created this video to show you how to teach factorization using the UT chart. Love it!


My students have been busy practicing this skill exactly the way I showed it in the video. They have to list the factors under each chart, write "Factors of x!" and as we progressed, they wrote if the number is prime or composite. Our page was folded into eigths and looked like this:
